Over 2,600 families have been contacted. At least 1,200 children are now considered potentially impacted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is more than a headline. This is every parent\u2019s worst nightmare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the question echoes in our minds:<br><strong>How do we keep our children safe?<\/strong><br>Is it even possible?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote has-black-color has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-73904ac583f3c7dcee20d151e03bf300\" style=\"border-width:10px;border-radius:47px\"><blockquote><p>\u201cTotal safety is a myth \u2014 but connection is a powerful protector.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Safety Isn\u2019t Just About Systems. It\u2019s About Conversations.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We want to believe that checks, systems, and protocols will be enough. And yes, we absolutely need them. But when they fail (and this month, they <em>did<\/em> fail), what do we have left?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have our voice.<br>We have our presence.<br>And we have our children\u2019s trust, if we\u2019ve built it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That trust doesn\u2019t come from panic.<br>It comes from <strong>repeated, real conversations<\/strong> about <em><a href=\"https:\/\/thetabletalkproject.org\/parent-resources\/\">body safety, consent, boundaries<\/a>,<\/em> and what to do when something feels \u201cnot quite right.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Talk About Consent Early &#8211; and Often<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This doesn\u2019t mean telling young kids scary stories. It means giving them a language for their own body, their instincts, and their right to say no.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It sounds like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cYou never have to hug someone if you don\u2019t want to.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cYour body belongs to you.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cYou can always tell me if something feels weird, even if someone tells you not to.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cSecrets about bodies are not safe secrets.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These are not one-time talks. They are a way of parenting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote has-black-color has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-d4ae7b7e6cf3041c9cef96f817eed4f9\" style=\"border-width:11px;border-radius:64px\"><blockquote><p>\u201cWe can\u2019t shield them from life, but we can walk beside them through it.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Use the Dinner Table as Your Safe Place<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>At<a href=\"https:\/\/thetabletalkproject.org\/\"> <em>The Table Talk Project<\/em><\/a>, we believe the dinner table is one of the most powerful, underused tools for emotional safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not about grilling your kids.<br>It\u2019s about normalising conversations that matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Try this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cHave you ever had a moment where your body said \u2018no\u2019 even when you weren\u2019t sure why?\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cDo you know what you\u2019d do if a friend told you something that made you feel uncomfortable?\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cWhat would safety feel like to you if something scary happened?\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These questions build muscle memory, the kind that kicks in <em>when it matters most<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background has-medium-font-size\" style=\"border-width:6px;border-radius:82px\"><blockquote><p>\u201cEvery honest table talk is a brick in their safety net.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What Real Protection Looks Like<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We cannot promise our children a world without danger. But we can raise children who:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Know what consent means.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understand that they\u2019re allowed to trust their gut.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Know they can <em>always<\/em> come to us.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aren\u2019t afraid of talking about the hard stuff.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s not weakness.<br>That\u2019s strength.<br>That\u2019s safety the kind that lives <em>inside<\/em> them, not just around them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background has-medium-font-size\" style=\"border-width:10px;border-radius:78px\"><blockquote><p>\u201cEvery honest table talk is a brick in their safety net.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Don\u2019t Be Afraid to Talk About the Hard Stuff<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thetabletalkproject.org\/what-is-the-cost-to-not-having-meaningful-conversations-with-our-children\/\">These conversations<\/a> aren\u2019t easy. They make your stomach twist. But silence is not protection it\u2019s a risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s not leave our kids to figure this out alone. Let\u2019s not wait for the school curriculum, or the news, or the \u201cright time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s use the table.<br>Let\u2019s use our stories.<br>Let\u2019s use our love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because while we might not be able to guarantee safety\u2026<br><strong>we can promise they won\u2019t face the world without us beside them.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background has-medium-font-size\" style=\"border-width:8px;border-radius:97px\"><blockquote><p><br>\u201cFear locks the door.
